A Night to Recognize Service in Delray Beach

By Chuck Halberg, Founder & President, Stuart & Shelby; President, Delray Citizens for Delray Police

On Friday, May 29, 2026, Delray Beach will come together for one of its most meaningful annual traditions—the 21st Annual Delray Beach Police Awards Banquet, hosted by Delray Citizens for Delray Police at the Opal Grand Oceanfront Resort.

Now in its 21st year, the event has become a consistent touchpoint between the community and the Delray Beach Police Department. It brings together residents, business leaders, and law enforcement for an evening that is both celebratory and grounded in purpose.

At its core, the night is about recognition. Officers with more than 20 years of dedicated service will be honored, alongside recipients of Police Officer, Employee, Supervisor, and Rookie of the Year. These awards are not just acknowledgments of individual achievement—they reflect the standards, leadership, and commitment that define the department as a whole.

The evening is designed to foster connection as much as recognition. With dinner, dancing, and a full program, it creates space for the kind of interaction that doesn’t always happen in day-to-day life. That visibility matters. It strengthens relationships, builds trust, and reinforces the shared responsibility of keeping our community safe.

Delray Citizens for Delray Police plays an important role in that effort, supporting initiatives and resources that extend beyond traditional funding and help ensure officers and their families have what they need. As President, I’m proud to be part of an organization that continues to invest in both the department and the broader community.

As we approach this year’s event, the goal remains simple: recognize service, bring people together, and continue strengthening the connection between those who protect Delray Beach and the community they serve.
